Welcome back to another weekly recap of the week that was in the music industry. Today we are looking at news including Hip Hop icons like Kedrick Lamar and Andre 3000. Let’s take a spin around the industry and see what is the latest.
Kendrick Lamar has Unheard Tracks Leak Online the Same Week He’s Seen Filming in LA
One of the biggest names in Hip Hop has been busy making headlines over the past few weeks. First, he was seen out and about filming what looks to be a new music video in LA and on the beach. Then, he had a few previously unreleased tracks leak.
Whether these new tracks are old songs that hadn’t been released or new stuff he is working on, one thing is clear, there’s a lot of buzz around Lamar who’s been real quiet the last few years. While I don’t have any sources on this, it sure feels like the growing buzz of an artist who will be releasing new music soon.
Andre 3000 Seen Out & About
One of the icons of the Southern Rap scene was spotted out over Labor Day weekend. Known to pop up and now and again, Andre 3000 was seen out carrying around a wooden flute, a sight that was not unique to this situation. A continued fan favorite, this sighting had social media fired up and reminiscing about the old days.
“WAP” Remains Top of the Spotify Charts
The hottest song in the country continues to reign supreme as “WAP” held onto the top spot for the second week in a row. In just a little over a month since it’s release, it’s already closing in on six million streams on Spotify. At this point, it certainly feels like it will be weeks before we see the Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion dethroned.
YouTube Makes Enhancements To Playlists
Google announced that they have made enhancements through AI to improve your playlist experience which will make for a better user experience when you using the site. Through sharing with other users and collaborating with their AI, creating playlists and discovering new music on the platform will be more intuitive and better than ever.
